It’s Good to be the King - 11.21.2021

It’s Good to be the King

In recent weeks, I have been listening to British radio broadcasts - as I usually do. There has been concern about the health of her
Majesty Queen Elizabeth, as she has been tired and unable to attend to some of her royal duties. The people seem to be very concerned as the aged monarch on the throne for 69 years seems to be failing.

Long ago, we in the United States said goodbye to a Monarch as we embraced a Republic and our system of Government.

This weekend, we celebrate Christ the King. Bishop Ricken has asked that we turn our focus towards him as our Sovereign Lord and Savior amid these difficult times in our world.

If we cast our eyes on the Lord, we are assured of his help and strength. In history, world kings and emperors come and go. This is a reality that we have witnessed with our eyes.

As we move towards our special days of celebration, we acknowledge that Jesus is Lord. We express praise and thanksgiving for one
nation under God. We delight in the opportunity to gather in peace with family and friends because our Prince of Peace has saved us and God has truly blessed us.

Our appropriate response is that of thanksgiving.

THANKS!
Fr. Mack
