THE MANY BLESSINGS OF GOD!
It has been an exciting beginning to our fall here at Holy Cross and St. Katharine Drexel.
Our school, St. Ignatius, has begun a new year with 225 students in our elementary school and we have 29 students in our new high school – St. Ignatius Chesterton Academy. With our new high school ministry, we have begun having masses with our high school students Tuesday through Friday at 8 am. It has been my privilege to see growth in our school each of my first three years here. It is exciting to see God’s plan unfold for this wonderful ministry of our parishes.
This summer we also completed the move for our Discipleship ministry. The old convent at St. Katharine Drexel – St. Mary has been converted into the Center for Discipleship, and we are finishing the final touches as we prepare for our Discipleship classes to begin. We are planning an open house on Wednesday, September 29th. Watch the bulletin for more details about this event.
Deacon Jim Trzinski joined our staff this last week as our new Pastoral Associate and Evangelization Coordinator.
Leadership Needs:
As we continue to fulfil our Vision: To Discover, Live and Share Jesus, we are looking to fill several leadership needs. We are looking for:
- One person for our Holy Cross Parish Council
- Two people for our St. Katharine Drexel Parish Council
- Two people for our St. Katharine Drexel Finance Council
If you are interested and willing to serve in these leadership roles, please contact me.
Parish Projects
We are working on raising money to fix our organ at Holy Cross. The other large project we are working on is the restoration of our chimney at Holy Cross.
Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, Holy Cross has met its goal for the Bishop’s Appeal. St. Katharine Drexel also reached their goal for Bishop’s Appeal, and we are grateful to all who made this possible.
Oktoberfest returns this year, and we look forward to gathering with our community on Sunday, October 10th. Remember that a large part of our success is our parish raffle; please do what you can to help us reach our goal.
It is with grateful hearts that we encounter the many blessings of God, and we raise our voices in joyful praise for God’s blessings.
Peace and Joy,
Fr. Don Everts
