Alleluia! He is Risen! We are people of the Resurrection! As people of the Resurrection, we see the life that we know only God can offer. Our Easter Journey is all about how we seek to enter deeper and deeper into the mystery of the empty tomb. It is about allowing the Risen Christ to lead us to a fuller and richer life of faith. It is about the understanding that the stone has been rolled away, and we are given the opportunity to experience a life we never knew possible.
For seven weeks we will celebrate Easter. This time is our opportunity to seek to experience and understand the Resurrection in a fuller way. How do we do that; how do we follow the Risen Christ to the new life God is calling us to experience?
It begins with the courage to leave the tomb. The reality is that the tomb is safe. It has clear limitations, and it is often easier to stay in the tomb than to follow Christ towards Resurrection. Leaving the tomb is about change -- a willingness to allow the grace of God to mold us into different people. And, as we know, all change is hard. There will be people in and around us who want us to stay the same because, if we change, then they too must change. Courage, as they say, is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to do it anyway. In faith, we find the courage to follow the Risen Christ and seek the path of new life.
Leaving the tomb, like all parts of our faith journey, is not something we do by ourselves. It starts with the grace that God gives us to desire new life, and part of this grace is our community. These are the people who will walk with us, encourage us, and hold us steady when what we want to do is run back into the tomb. These are the people who will best understand what we are trying to do and will help us be open to where God is leading.
Yes, the Easter Journey is a journey of life! May we be open to all the life that God is offering us. Peace and Joy.
Fr. Don
